Below is everything you need to know to successfully present at Boston New Technology! Please read all of this important information. Learn more about BNT here.
Each presenter gets 5 minutes for their presentation/demo and 5 minutes to answer questions from attendees. Please take 2 to 3 minutes to tell your startup's story, including a quick overview of your product, market and business model (using slides, if desired), and then spend 2 to 3 minutes demonstrating your product live. You’ll then have up to 5 minutes to answer questions from the audience, for a maximum total of 10 minutes. Keep an eye on the countdown timer on our iPad to know when you need to finish your demo (5 minutes) and also when you need to finish answering questions (4 to 5 additional minutes).
Please practice ahead of time and time yourself. Our presenters who don’t do this tend to run out of time to give a proper demo. During the presentations, keep an eye on our countdown timer to know when you need to move to questions and when you need to finish. As you wrap up, feel free to briefly describe any needs or special offers your company has (hiring, events, sales, etc.).
BNT startups are strongly encouraged to get free guidance and feedback on presenting with BNT's expert storyteller, Chuck Goldstone.
Schedule & RSVP:
Please ensure your presenters plan on being at the event venue from 5 to 9 pm. If you need to arrive late or leave early, please let us know. Events officially start at 6:00 pm, with an hour of networking, followed by presentations at 7:00 pm. We try to keep to the schedule since things tend to run long. We recommend arriving early and bringing your company colleagues to network with other attendees prior to the presentations. Please RSVP for the event on Eventbrite yourself and have each your colleagues do the same. Staff of presenting startups are allowed to register using the free Presenting Startup tickets. Advance registration is required for security, attendance tracking, capacity management, and name tags.

Wi-Fi and/or LAN connections will be available for internet access.
An HDMI connection is used to display your content (apps, websites, slides, photos, videos, etc.) on at least one large screen during your presentation.
Please plan on using our Windows 10 laptop (with Chrome, Firefox, PowerPoint & Adobe Reader), so we can avoid disturbances and delays that often occur when we swap laptops during the presentations. You only need your own laptop if you require special software to be installed on the machine, or if it won't work on Windows 10.
If connecting your own devices to the projector, please bring your own HDMI adapter/connector. BNT has a lightening-to-HDMI adapter to connect iPhones and iPads for app demos.
If you plan on using any of your own devices to present, please inform the BNT organizers ahead of time. Connecting smartphones does not always work, so please have a backup plan in place (screenshots, videos, etc.).
Please email your presentation slides (PowerPoint or PDF format) and website URL's to use to Chris "at" BostonNewTechnology.com, even if you plan on using your own laptop. We use these in the videos we record and will have them set up on our laptop for you to test during setup.
On event day, please arrive between 5:00 and 5:15 pm for setup. We'll set up and test your slides, URL's and devices, to make sure everything works. Setup must be completed by 6 pm.
Audio & Video:
We video record all presentations for our YouTube Channel. We usually have a sound system, with an audio input (for multimedia) and microphones for you to speak into. We highly recommend using the microphones to both ensure the audience can hear you, and to ensure your voice can be heard on the video we record. Hold the mic close enough to your mouth to be heard. When available, we will have the audience ask questions through a microphone. Otherwise, please repeat questions from the audience through the microphone.
Tables, Signs and Promotional Materials:
You may bring a poster or banner, as well as any promotional collateral you wish to hand out. However, we cannot guarantee space will be available to set up or display such materials. If you would like to have an exhibitor table, let us know and we will try to arrange it for you (power outlets are usually available, but you should bring an extension cord).
